I thought the mythbusters busted the myth that you could get sucked out a window?

Ugh. Scariest experience of my life was being on a plane when one of the engines failed (non-explosively, just flamed out.)

it was sucked out a bullet hole, not a full window (IIRC)

landing in heavy crosswinds for me... something deeply unnerving bout suddenly only seeing grass out of the window seconds before landing...
pretty sure my hand prints are still embedded in those arm rests

In the old days, airline mechanics located pinholes in the aircraft skin by the stream of tar from cigarette smoke.

We were on a flight on an older DC-9/MD-80 that had compressor stalls and they shut it down.

They only tested for pressure differential, not the effect of a 150+ knot slipstream.

I believe i was in a DC10, but i was only about 7 when it happened so i’m not 100 percent sure. We took off, were climbing and then suddenly we weren’t climbing but rather plunging back towards the earth. The plane leveled off pretty quickly and we just immediately landed. I remember having to call my mom since my sister and I were unaccompanied minors at the time.

Code Brown for Mom, no doubt. My brother and I flew UM a bunch when we were, well, minors.

I believe every one in any picture you see from this proves zero people listen to announcements or read the safety card. How? Their oxygen masks are all on wrong. Supposed to go over nose too.....but their facebook feed!!
